| My power convertible top is acting up and I need some help with it.
Believe me, this is something much easier witnessed than described, but I'll give it a go.
So I start off, unhook my top, set the brake, even roll the windows down a bit to make life easier on my top. I hold the button down, but the top doesn't budge. It makes a noise like the parts inside are moving, but something on the left side is disconnected - I believe its a pneumatic piston. My next move is manually pushing the top down, which I have to do quite often and its a little embarrassing when it doesn't catch and it ends up slamming into position.
After I reach my destination, I want to put my top up so that my goodies inside my car don't get stolen, so I set the break, keep the windows down and hold my little button, once again it sounds like the parts inside are moving, yet the top remains stationary and neatly stowed away - until! The right side catches and begins to carry the top upward, painful grinds come from the left side and the whole thing might even fall back into position before resuming its quest over my head. Needless to say it usually stops at about a quarter of the trip, I have to get out of my car, grab the top and swing it back over and then latch it in place.
It blows.
Can anyone help, I pulled apart my rear seat looking for these pistons or any of the mechanism but to no avail. And I think my brother has my shop manual.
Ideas other than bring it to the shop, money's tight.
Also, anyone know where I can pick up a resistor assembly for my heater blower motor, I need one of those too.
Thanks!

| Nevermind, I fixed it.. I'm actually pretty proud of myself - but my next and final project before I sell my baby is the a/c fan speed resistor assembly - anyone know where I can find one? _________________ 99 V6 5spd Vert.

| ok so a while back I had my hockey sticks across my rear bench and my boss took my car out and without thinking he put the top down, well it turns out that it knocked not one but both of the anchoring attachments (from the pistons to the convertible frame) off! Both of them! I couldn't believe it. Well I took out the rear paneling and dug for the missing part - sure enough I found it! and the nut to screw onto the bolt as well! so should you be caught in a situation in which your top is making weird noises and not functioning properly - it could mean that your pistons aren't stationery and they need to be attached - not too hard or time consuming of a fix once you've figured everything out. _________________ 99 V6 5spd Vert.
