| Ok, so I have my set up (sig) for about 3 weeks now. I'm already getting bored.
I want to get closer to the 500ish mark on a dyno jet with stock internals but now I question reliabilty. I know that 450RWHP is ok but I've also seen guys making 500 all day. I'd like to know from your personal experience. Good and bad.
This is my ONLY car. I do about 40% of city driving + NYC.
So for the daily drivers (12k miles/year) at the 500ish mark with stock internals:
-How many miles have you driven with your set up?
-How hard do you drive it?
-What do you use for fuel?
-What else did you do for stock shortblock insurance?
-Why do you think your stock internals has or not lasted that long?
-What do you think you did right / wrong?
-Who did your tune?
So please, tell us of your experiences and post. Thanks. _________________ 08 torch red, Power House Turbo, Hallman BC, 60lb inj, KB BAP 40amp, Center Force DF, CHE control arms, Speed of Sound dual pillar pod, dyno jet wide band, AM boost gauge, MGW

| the whipple is perfect for you.
I've driven 19,000 miles, with 0 problems!
I've beaten the hell out of it, on the road and on the track.
I use 93 octane fuel
nothing else for insurance
its because of the conservative tune. its not always boost, its more 70% tune, 30% boost. as long as your timing is conservative, your air/fuel is where it should be, you will have no problems at 500.
I think I did the right thing with going with the whipple.
whipple did my tune, and their tune was right on the money! (soon to be getting a dyno tune to squeeze out a few more ponies conservatively from Tillman Speed Aston, PA) _________________

| hes already got a turbo, i dont think hes gonna switch to whipple. But yea I agree that thats the best DD setup. The torque curve is flat. Boost comeon on low and linear. Its clean in the engine bay.
Thats what I have and Im doing 20k a year. The only problem is the belts. Theyre gonna slip and break and throw. Until you get the 8 rib conversion and manual tensioner for $1,100.
Regarding the whipple tune. It sucks. Its rich. Mav, I went from 430 whp on a regular dyno to 500 on a mustang dyno with a real tune. JDM, Crazy horse and Evolution performance are the places id reccoment for a tune. I did evo and couldnt be happier.
Now in terms of longevity....IMHO and in my experience...10psi can run all day. I run 10 now, and i bounce it off the rev limiter, sit in traffic, beat it, race it. Ive run out of gas twice. No problems. 11PSI should be safe too wiht a tune. 12 is too much for daily driving,
Hope that helps. Please ask away if you think of other stuff you want to know. _________________ 07 White GT. FRPP whipple 11 psi intercooled. | trying to squeeze a bit more power, i'd consider getting a custom tune, and perhaps going to 10psi
I'd talk to the guys @ JDM, they know their crap, especially with turbos and see what kind of tuning they can bring about on your car to get your desired numbers. _________________

| JDM's definitley great. Evolution is equally great and doesnt have a 6-month backlog. And theres no horror stories about the mamagement being discourteous to customers.
Knowing what I know now, I wouldnt have kept the whipple stock tune for even a day. _________________ 07 White GT. FRPP whipple 11 psi intercooled. Nope! Staying with the turbo. I've already had 2 blowers. Nothing against them. Just wanted to switch it up. I think I'm gonna have my hands full when I start auto-x though.
20k a year is great! How many total miles have you driven with the whipple?
Thanks. _________________ 08 torch red, Power House Turbo, Hallman BC, 60lb inj, KB BAP 40amp, Center Force DF, CHE control arms, Speed of Sound dual pillar pod, dyno jet wide band, AM boost gauge, MGW

I've already spoken to Chris at JDM a few times . They don't really do turbo cars, he said. I'd still have my car tuned by them.
Getting the #s is not a problem as Chris said himself. It's the reliability that I'm concerned with.
I'm already at 9PSI. If anything, I'd go 11 to spool up the T67 a little quicker and not so much for HP. I already have a custom tune from Power House. I'd retune it with JDM only because I'd be increasing the PSI and installing GT500 pumps.Thanks. _________________ 08 torch red, Power House Turbo, Hallman BC, 60lb inj, KB BAP 40amp, Center Force DF, CHE control arms, Speed of Sound dual pillar pod, dyno jet wide band, AM boost gauge, MGW

| i'd love for John Lund to tune my car, but I will not go to evolution performance, no offense to those who've had good service there. in a nutshell, I want to punch out that Fat Fred who runs the place for the crap he pulled with me. _________________
