You want to swap your 5spd for an Auto? Its not hard, just need a few more parts then just a tranny. _________________ Joe's Garage: 2000 Ford Mustang 3.8 Auto 1995 Jeep Wrangler 2.5 5spd

I just did and auto manual swap on an sn95 car... So this may be a bit different for the s197 folks out there.
For starters you would need:
A flex plate and corresponding bolts An auto trans Transmission cooler & lines Auto Trans Computer Probably an auto driveshaft Auto block plate and bellhousing bolts Auto pedal cluster Various switches and wiring(P/N switch, harness, Neutral safety switch, etc...) Auto crossmember and mount? Shifter
There is defenitely things I'm omitting but you get the idea... _________________ 96 GT..................it has many horsepowerz 4R70W to T-45 Swapped................Lovin' it!

Why on God's Earth would you switch from a manual to auto.

Well in the S197 cars..its worth the swap if you want to go fast in the 1/4. These new 5 speed automatics have proven themselves with supercharged S197 stangs as the ticket for the fastest times. So its worth it for that.... _________________ Hot Rod Harry Mager 2007 Mustang GT automatic 3300 miles Stock Motor with Mods: 10.73 at 128 mph 1.58 short time(507rwhp) Saleen SC 3.00 pulley (13 lbs boost)60lb inj. with the S197 cars there is a lot more than just swapping out the trans and all. you will need a new tune, probably computer, bypass the clutch safety switch. More of a pain than it's worth for a street car

05STANGT, If this girl can shift like this, so can you.
And possibly get as good as this
And run down the track like this
Auto? I don't think so _________________ America's #1 Muscle Car Mods: 93 Octane tune, PnP Plenum, BBK 70mm T/B, Steeda UD pulleys, CAI, BBK Headers, MAC Catted H-Pipe, Magnaflow Cat Back, Eibach Pro Kit, Stangsuspension CC plates, FRPP Front Lower Arms, FRPP Rear Upper Arms, FRPP Bumpsteer, Steeda sway bar, CHE Rear Lower Arms, FRPP 3.73, PowerSlot Crossed Drilled and Slotted W/ Ceramic Pads, Steeda Tri-Ax.

thanks for the "not like this." Try powershifting 600 rwhp and 600 ft lbs of torque with a stock shifter in a GT500. Are you saying I dont know how to powershift? Go ahead...try it in one. Keep your throttle foot floored..do not let up at all...and bang that next gear. Not with a low horse 300 hp car...anyone can do that. The higher horse and torque a car produces, the harder it is. Also...the higher the rpm the harder it is too.
I hope I was understanding this wrong..but give me a break. I really just dont get it.......I have been drag racing stick cars since 1980. Again..thanks alot.....seeya at the track! _________________ Hot Rod Harry Mager 2007 Mustang GT automatic 3300 miles Stock Motor with Mods: 10.73 at 128 mph 1.58 short time(507rwhp) Saleen SC 3.00 pulley (13 lbs boost)60lb inj. I disagree... but if you wanted an auto You should have brought an auto..... and a computer can shifter faster then any person alive in a drag race that is...
So I am all for owning a auto.... Also for all the auto Haters Out there it isnt as easey as you think... everyone thought my car was 5spd.... and was surprised it was auto,... who new./... _________________ 01 Mustang GT,88 Mustang GT, 85 Merkur XR4Ti No matter how many traffic statues or street racing laws are passed... capable drivers will always violate them and pursue their addiction... to Vehicular Lunacy.[img]

Doh. Hot Rod (lol) I didn't know that was you. Honestly. I just did a search on powershifting and selected those. I'm sorry big guy (LOL). I didn't put 2 and 2 together when I started seeing your name on the forum. If it weren't for the post from hotshot I wouldn't never read your post and laugh so much. I meant no dis. _________________ America's #1 Muscle Car Mods: 93 Octane tune, PnP Plenum, BBK 70mm T/B, Steeda UD pulleys, CAI, BBK Headers, MAC Catted H-Pipe, Magnaflow Cat Back, Eibach Pro Kit, Stangsuspension CC plates, FRPP Front Lower Arms, FRPP Rear Upper Arms, FRPP Bumpsteer, Steeda sway bar, CHE Rear Lower Arms, FRPP 3.73, PowerSlot Crossed Drilled and Slotted W/ Ceramic Pads, Steeda Tri-Ax.

By the Way, I don't hate Auto's. You kiddin, I love them. When your stuck in traffic, nothing better than an auto. I've always said auto's are faster than sticks when drag racing. Unless your like those guys at the begining. They're the 5% out of 95% that hotshot mentions. _________________ America's #1 Muscle Car Mods: 93 Octane tune, PnP Plenum, BBK 70mm T/B, Steeda UD pulleys, CAI, BBK Headers, MAC Catted H-Pipe, Magnaflow Cat Back, Eibach Pro Kit, Stangsuspension CC plates, FRPP Front Lower Arms, FRPP Rear Upper Arms, FRPP Bumpsteer, Steeda sway bar, CHE Rear Lower Arms, FRPP 3.73, PowerSlot Crossed Drilled and Slotted W/ Ceramic Pads, Steeda Tri-Ax.
