for some reason, i just spotted the link of Moss Mustang but a few of you have already heard of this but now it seems more likely like it'll happen.
All i want them to do is bring back screaming yellow and i'll be in line to get a new one, more horsepower, better gears and turbo or supercharged, less money for me to spend making mine faster lol
What do you guys think? how much power could a turbo charged V6 put out?
another link on the engine:
| Quote: | | Ford's 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, for example, can deliver upwards of 340-plus lb.-ft. of torque across a wide engine range – 2,000 to 5,000 rpm versus 270 to 310 lb.-ft of torque for a conventional naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V-8 over the same speed range. At the same time, this V-6 gives customers an approximate 2 mpg improvement and emits up to 15 percent fewer CO2 emissions to the environment. |
im actually alittle annoyed of how long its taking ford to decide to swap this engine in which has alot more power, and also about the fact that my car color is gone. _________________ 93 Tunes, C&L CAI, Custom 8.8 Rear with 3.73/TLok, Ford Racing X-Pipe with Dual MRT Aerotubines, Sequential Taillights, Avic-D3... yeah and i kno but im mad at the fact that with 340hp it gets better fuel consumption than my car by like 4 mpg and i get 130 more horsepower and better mileage lol
like really why didnt ford do this before? _________________ 93 Tunes, C&L CAI, Custom 8.8 Rear with 3.73/TLok, Ford Racing X-Pipe with Dual MRT Aerotubines, Sequential Taillights, Avic-D3... | Stangman, I know what you mean about the Screaming Yellow. I had to buy a used one because that's the color she wanted. Ours is a bone stock V-6 daily driver now that we traded 2 Chevy's and got one F-150. Hell, I'll stick to my Red Foxbody! Do you belong to YMR? |

| I've seen single turbo 4.0s pull damn close to 500 hp. Over 500 hp with a 75 shot on top of it.
These guys also run mid to high 10s in the quarter haha _________________

| well no disrespect to ford for trying to make a gas friendly mustang but they are forgetting a few things one major thing they are forgetting is that not all v8 mustangs were bought because of sheer power some people also bought their mustang for that certain exhaust rumble that only a v8 can offer so although they can build a v6 with more horsepower they would also have to build that v6 with the same exhuast tone _________________ 2007 Mustang bone stock

| in this months motor trend is link to the 2010 mustang news of date. it does talk about a standard 4..0 a turbo 4.0 and a 5.0 v8. some body trim changes . it's not very much .but yet it is some idea of the future mustang.
i for one love the fact of possible more powerfull v6 as a option, esp. in these days of super high gasoline.high test is allready over $4.00 a gal with rummers of $5.00 by labor day.
power wise for those of us who could not afford the gt option or afford the extra insurance cost.the v6 ride is still a mustang and i sure injoy my own. ok while i am running a super charger , i can still yank 23 mpg on the high way and 18 in town. with a egg under the go pedal so to say and mean a very light foot. how many mpg's will the new motors give us?
there have also been rumors of the 3.5 edge motor as a replacement of the long aged and strongly built german 4.0 l. the stock full alloy 3.5 has 40 hp and 40 foot pounds of torqe, more over the 4.0. it also sports 4 valves, vvt, and twin cams, but dose run out at a higher rpm for torqe and hp. i for one willl sit back and wait to see what ford gives us to enjoy, with my lowly v6er. maybe down the line i might be able "$$$$" to get a build up kit from super six motor sports. and at least have forged pistons to handle the blower and some nox. and not fry the cast alloy stock ones. |

| i still say with exhaust and intake combo that i had on my truck goes on my pony i should get about 30 MPG if a truck double the size and weight of a mustang with oversized tires and a lead footed driver could still reach 25mpg around town while still packing a 4.6 under the hood i am almost positive my pony can reach the same if not better _________________ 2007 Mustang bone stock

| yes we all can do better with easier driving, esp.at todays gas prices. 25 to 30 mpg is not unheard of in any way. and a lot of us old timers can sure truely say with a old 289 0r 302 that we had banged those numbers out.
going the other way. i can also remember my 69. with a 429 cobra jet .going full bore down the road and watch the speedo and fuel gauge go up and down real fast. |

| yeah but most v8s are frowned upon because they are considered gas guzzlers and most don't take the time to notice that they can reach the mpg numbers of that of a 4 cylinder honda you would be surprised at how many v8s would be on the road if a truck this size can get 25mpg while being driven by a lead foot i am sure any v8 can reach 25+

| I just heard yesterday Ford plans to put a 5.0 V8 with 400 hp/400 lbs in the 2010 that will supposedly get better gas mileage than the S197. Let's see if that's true.

now does that include all s197 even ones that were modified to get better gas mileage or is it limited to just the stock s197 _________________ 2007 Mustang bone stock

| that was a nice truck man. but it also makes me miss my 2005 f250 sc, swb, 4x4, v10 auto. for those people who would say.a v10 that most guzzle gas. not so at al! i was on fishing trip with friends .each towing over 7.000 lb's of boat. when the diesel heads and i had to refuel i found out the truth my v10 towing the boat ran almost the same gas mileage. the diesel about 9 mpg's the v10 never fell below 12.
back on the subject. in all the 42 years i worked on cars and trucks. many of us old time techs could easily run near 30 mpgs w a v8 on a straight long run.and just with only a lighter touch on the go pedal .
one example would be my "deceased" then stock 1985 gt 5 spd. going from bergen county down to a.c. and back that car would always hit the mid upper 20's every time. imm it really breaks down how well it's kept up and driven |
