I HATE BANKS!!!

As a few of you may already know I'm struggling right now to get back on my feet. BUT, outta the goodness of my heart, I help others before thinking of my well-being...

I lent someone a few bucks because they were desperate, and I thought I could handle being without the money for a few days until I realized that my car payment was due and I wasn't going to be able to deposit the money til the DUE DATE. Well, I wound up over $200 in the negative, got paid back, and deposited it, so I was fine...then, this morning, I come to find I'm another $5 in the negative...,so I'm like "WTF???" I didn't realize I had some pending transactions that totally screwed me! So, I'm like, "Ok, I'll just put like $10 in the bank after work today." Ohhhh noooo...the computer decided it was gonna update this afternoon, and I got hit with 8, YES EIGHT, $36 fees (one for every transaction that put me in the negative!) Sad

It's my fault, but at the same time...these banks should give us a break with all these friggin fees!!! Now I donno what I'm gonna do. I figure I'll go to the bank, threaten to switch to another one and raise hell for about an hour and see where that gets me...O mannnn HELP!

it depends on your banks policy when you deposit your funds, they usaully don't memo post until the batch update that night, then most banks nowadays will process debits before credits the next morning (that is how they make their money.) So if you have debits that hit even though you put your money in, whammo

Now a tip email or call your bank and be VERY polite, explain the situation that this isn't the way you usaully do your banking and you really want to continue banking wit them you just got in a bad position they may as a courtesy take a couple of them $36 charges off for you

Sorry to hear that!! Piper gives some great advice... I've done the same thing, left myself short once in a while and the bank is wonderful in reversing the fees... be real nice, after all, it is your fault... and they know it lol

Yes I would try what piper suggested. I have had that happen to 1x before. They waved them as it was on record that I had called and explained what happend with the paycheck ad the charges not clearing one before he other.

Now i think that if you debited with money it will let you overdraw and apply the charges and then assit the OD fee later when the system updates regardless if you get the funds back in there. JUst vcall up and try to get them to waive the fees or some.

I dont like the fact that banks allow you to OD your account to INFINITE lol.. There should be a cap offered to you when its set up like allow me to OD up to $100 or somethign. But i guess thats why they some offer the program wehre if you have a saving or credit card its applied to that account vs the checking to aviod the charges

I agree they shouldn't keep hitting your account. Some banks do have smaller penalties and will not hit you as hard on charges, some even have a cap or a grace period. You will need to do some "shopping" around (I work for a bank, so I have a good idea how this stuff works) Look at some smaller community banks, they will go the extra mile to offer the customer service that the bigger banks don't

for example I have wellsfargo. (west/midwest bank) furtherst they go is easst texas.
Recently there have been issues with them from there side and its causing me to want to switch. Ill be going to the instore branch while im in vegas tho. Only reason why i havent switched now is the fact that i have 3 loans with them that i pay thru my checking account online so its easy.

PIPER what bank you work for?.. I was thinking i would look into bank of america/wachovia.
I know I wont use WAMU had them before and they were garbage at the time. ( bank was just like OHBEHAVE's) sounds

Thanks guys...I use PNC...used to work for World Savings (merged with Wachovia in February of 2008). This has happened to me 2x this month, and I can't afford to keep it up, so $1 menu it is!!! hehe Smile

I ran into the same problem with bank of america. called them up and they were cool about it. just be cool about it. I've been using the same bank from when it was Summit to United Jersey to Fleet to Bank of America.

The same thing happened to me last paycheck and they could only refund 2 of the fees. But, now, since they consider it an ongoing problem, they won't do it again for me.

O well...I may just get a Western Union pre-pay card (my friend has one and loves it) and use that from now on. This way I don't have to worry about those ridiculous fees anymore. I'll do that at least til I can rack up a good amount of money to where I can open up an account and not have to worry about overspending...
